Today's Webtip: Quip

a new collaborative online word-processor.

Remember Google Wave?

That collaborative thing that google sort of dumped on the world and then closed when no one could quite figure out what to do with it?

Well, some of the useful features of that experiment have now gone online in a completely different project that has nothing to do with Google. Quip is an iOS and web app that combines the functionality of a word processor with a messenger app. That means that multiple people can work on the same documents while discussing that document in a chat window. Changes to the document are added to the chat so it is easy to see who has done what.

I guess. So far I have only been able to use it alone, but I can see several scenarios in the creation of the morning show where something like this could be very handy. Even in single user mode it has one thing that puts it ahead of Pages for me. Folders. That is handy for someone who has to work from a wide mix of devices.
