Today's Webtip: Your Digital Future

The Fair Deal Coalition wants to give all of us a voice.

The most recent round of super secret trade agreements will soon be coming to an end. In what has rapidly become a tradition, negotiations for the Transpacific Partnership Agreement have been taking place behind closed doors, beyond the reach of democratic oversight.

This seems to be becoming a thing.

And yes, the U.S. seems to be trying to add provisions that would dictate major changes to other countries copyright laws. And, also as usual, some of those provisions could have an impact on your online privacy (what there is of it at least). The usual suspects in online rights advocacy are trying to do something about it.

ourfairdeal.org is a coalition of businesses and interest groups that would like to open up the policy making process. And they want your input to help define what an alternative might look like.

You can read a bit about it at the Electronic Frontier Foundation or you can jump right up on the soapbox at openmedia.org

And for those of you who would like a bit more info on the TPP, you might want to take a look at tppinfo.org
