President Obama is calling for calm following the controversial "not guilty" verdict on George Zimmermann, who was charged with the murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin.
Martin was unarmed when he was shot dead by Zimmermann, who says he fired in self defence under Florida's controversial "stand your ground" law. Initially, no action was taken against Zimmermann, but after widespread public protests he was arrested, charged and tried.

However, the not guilty verdict is sparking further protests, and the possibility of a new civil rights case against Zimmermann.
The point of hottest contention is the whole issue of prejudice and profiling - with many people convinced that had Martin been a white adult rather than a black teenager, he would still be alive today.
US analyst, James Boys, looks at reactions to the verdict and the possible next steps.
