Austria's troop withdrawal from the Golan Heights has stirred up a storm at home and abroad, with the United Nations asking whether the pull out could be delayed until the end of July to allow replacement troops to be deployed.

However, the government seems to be determined to bring the soldiers home as soon as possible - a popular decision with the majority of Austrians, but a potential coalition splitter ahead of the national elections.
