Can Hong Kong protect Snowden?

PRISM whistleblower, Edward Snowden, is currently in Hong Kong, where he is believed to be in hiding. Local freedom of speech activists are proud that he has chosen the territory and take it as an acknowledgement of Hong Kong's open and free society and legal system.

Despite being a Chinese territory, Hong Kong has an independent judiciary, and is fiercely proud of its freedom of speech

However, some are concerned that Hong Kong does, in fact, have an extradition treaty with the United States, and Snowden may not be safe there.

In Florida, the trial of George Zimmerman, the man accused of murdering the unarmed black teenager ,Trayvon Martin, is getting underway. Zimmerman claims he shot Martin in self defence under the "stand your ground" law. Priscilla Huff describes the case and procedure.
