Pakistan: it's complicated
Subscribe to the Reality Check podcast and get the whole programme after the show.
Pakistan goes to the polls next week, and the tensions are rising. This morning, gunmen shot dead the prosecutor who was investigating the assassination of former leader Benazir Bhutto. She was shot and killed during an election rally in 2007 - and most people suspect the Taliban were responsible.

Zulfiqar Ali had plenty of enemies. Along with the Bhutto prosecution, he had also led the prosecution in the case relating to the terror attacks in Mumbai, India in 2008, so while it may be shocking, it is not entirely surprising that he was targeted.
In the meantime, former President, Pervez Musharraf, is facing charges of failing to protect Mrs Bhutto with sufficient security at the time of her death. As with everything in Pakistan, it's complicated. With the Taliban having close links with the Pakistani Secret Service, it's unclear what, if anything, the President or, indeed, anyone can do to protect themselves or anyone else.
In today's Reality Check Shashank Joshi examines the possible motives for the killing of Zulfiqar Ali and the political fallout ahead of the elections.
