Today's Webtip: Cookie Chemistry
Today's tip isn't just some useful information. It's a pretty good example of the way I wish learning was organized. In middle-school I had a chemistry class, and I had a cooking class. Chemistry was cool, and I eagerly awaited any chance to make things go boom, but the knowledge as presented didn't lend itself to solving practical problems.
Cooking could have been cool, but it only really taught me how to follow instructions and to avoid letting classmates see me in an apron. Of only some clever cog in the educational machine had decided to combine the two...
That's almost what you get in an instructable about cookie chemistry . It doesn't go into the details that would have been needed for an AP chem lab, but it does do a pretty good job of laying out the basic concepts you need to troubleshoot recipes gone wrong, and to tweak the ones that could be just a bit better.
