Today's Webtip: Outsider art

Even governments can get into it.

Well, some governments. Actually just one really specific government. North Korea.

Some of you may habe had a chance to see a rather bizarre bit of propaganda put online in support of the North Korean space/missile/really optmistic thinking program. It wasn't up for very long before it was taken down due to copyright infringement, but it still managed to make a few waves.

I'm not certain if it was the cheesy rendition of We Are the World, the even cheesier shuttle animations, or the images of Manhattan burning combined with the other two, but the video strikes a nerve. Or two.

It's trippy enough when viewed in language induced ignorance, but it gets even better when someone translates the text.

That translation, plus a little context as well as a copy of the video can be found at The Lede.

Just in time for the 20th anniversary of Monochrom. How serindipitous.
