Today's Webtip: Don't be a Petraeus
The EFF has taken the current run of news reporting on the Petraeus scandal as an opportunity to educate the masses on the nature of anonymous email. It's one of those subjects that keeps coming up, but rarely ever gets covered in a substantial way. Journalists in some countries (and companies) might be lucky enough to get workshops on the subject, but the rest of us have to muddle through with information we can scrape together on the web.
Something which the EFF article makes a lot easier. Because, believe it or not, email security is not just something criminals and military types need to worry about. I personally know at least 150 people who really need to think about the nature of their online communications and their need for security. Of course, all of the security in the world won't help anyone who has added the wrong people to the discussion, but that's a topic for another day...
