Protests and clashes between pro- and anti-Morsi demonstrators have continued over the weekend right across Egypt, splitting the society and causing a plummet on the stock market.

Today, President Morsi is meeting with the judges to try to defuse the crisis caused by his decree last week granting himself extensive new powers. However, it's unclear how the situation can be resolved without is having major repercussions for Morsi, who is finding himself ever more in s lose-lose situation.

Karim El Gawhary reports on how this episode is dividing Egypt at all levels.

King Abdullah Centre opens in Vienna

The controversial King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue has its formal opening this evening. Critics are saying Austria should not be hosting a centre carrying the name and patronage of a repressive regime, but analyst and writer Rime Allaf says that while these critics may have a point, the difference between internal and external Saudi politics may mean the Centre is a positive symbol when you look at the bigger picture.

Strasser trial begins

Former member of the EU Parliament, Ernst Strasser, is in court today charged with corruption. The charges relate to his alleged willingness to try to influence EU legislation in exchange for 100,000 Euros a year. Chris Cummins was at the opening of the trial, and spoke to Strasser's defence lawyer.
