The process has been long, complicated, convoluted - and at last the case is coming to a close - at least for the time being.
The former head of the ÖVP in Carinthia, Josef Martinz, has been found guilty of breach of trust and sentenced to five and a half years in prison for his role in the sale of the Carinthian Hypo Landesbank. He and the then governor of Carinthia, Jörg Haider, ordered 6 million Euros to be paid to the accountant, Dietrich Birnbacher, which was in turn paid to the coffers of the ÖVP and BZÖ.
While the guilty verdict was generally expected, many experts are surprised at the severity of the sentence.
Eva Linsinger of Profil and Franz Fiedler of Transparency Austria give their reactions to Steve Crilley.
