I only just discovered something I really should have known about. An easy way to search a massive collection of digitalized artifacts spread across the continent.
Rather than rumaging around the online depots of individual libraries and museums, Europeana.eu gives you an easy way to search and find access to some amazing content. It's one of those things I wasn't even looking for since I thought certain companies had already locked up digital distribution rights for this type of thing ages ago.
So what could be better than that?
Well how about if they offered all of the meta-data they had collected to people who wanted to do something with it? And they did that by releasing everything under the CC0 public domain dedication?
I think that would make the whole thing absolutely awesome.
