The party is over, and Mitt Romney is officially the Republican Presidential candidate for the 2012 election. However, his performance at the Convention is receiving mixed reviews, with terms like "businesslike" being bandied around, but little talk of anything inspirational, or any real content.
The high profile endorsement by veteran Hollywood star, Clint Eastward, was well received by people at the event, but those watching on TV mostly found it confusing, embarrassing or both.

South African miners charged with murder
In a bizarre turn of events, miners in South Africa have been charged with murder after the police shooting of 34 of their colleagues at strike at the Marikana mine.
