Ryan hitting the right notes for Republicans

Reality Check: Paul Ryan and the Republican Convention, the Non-Aligned Movement and its role in the world

The US Republican Party has confirmed the nomination of Paul Ryan as its Vice Presidential candidate, and while not causing the sensation that Sarah Palin caused 4 years ago, he's made a businesslike start to the campaign.

He promised a "turnaround" of the USA in his speech to the convention last night. The substance of his speech was mostly swipes at Obama, and was a little light on policy, but that's all part of the game. The VP does the smearing and swiping, while the Presidential candidate lays out policy and personality.

James Boys at the Richmond American University in London gives his analysis of Ryan and what he brings to the campaign.
