"Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to deceive!"
Although Sir Walter Scott's immortal words were written around 300 years ago, they could equally be applied to the current political crisis in Carinthia.
The twists and turns of the political scandal reach into new areas and pose threats to more politicians on an almost daily basis. The web is indeed tangled, and the chances of ever really getting straightening it out seem slim.
In the light of the ever increasing revelations, it's hardly surprising that there are calls in some quarters for new elections. After all, the current regional government has collapsed in a shambles - so surely the people of Carinthia should have the chance to have their say about who they put their trust in to run local affairs as soon as possible.
But obviously, the parties at the centre of the scandal, particularly the FPK, want to postpone elections for as long as possible, to give the party time to regroup.
Political analyst, Thomas Hofer, explained to Riem Higazi how the political interests and priorities are likeley to play out in the months ahead.
