Today's Webtip: Money for Blogging

and your chips for free. Help put some bread on a bloggers table.

Blogging is probably not the best way to get rich quick. The heady days of pro-blogging have mostly given way to content farms and corporate shills.

I still prefer the passionate blogs. The ones driven by a true love of the subject they are covering. The ones that might pick up some extra cash on the way, but are primarily interested in the content rather than the cash.

And that's one of the reasons I'm about to do something I normally am not too fond of. Presenting a marketing tool as a webtip. The www.foodblogaward.at is a project by the Agrarmarkt Austria Marketing GesMBH. They are offering prize money for the best german language food blogs.

Now that might be cool for the bloggers, but it's not really a very useful thing for the rest of us. I mean "YAY! we can vote!" just doesn't do it for me.

What does do it for me is having a nicely presented collection of regionally relevant blogs and resources. Yes, there is some commerz crap in there, but there are also a lot of valid blogs that I have actually added to my news reader.
