Today's Webtip: Dissent
Yesterday was the 4th of July, and since I don't know many other Burger-fresser in Cow Town, I spent it the only way I could think of. Hanging out with my daughter and listening to music, bristling at bureaucracy, and shopping.
It's the american in me, I guess.
Anyway, after listening to and talking about a few bands and their songs, I thought it would be a lot of fun to write something about great punk protest songs. And so did someone else.
David Emsinger at Popmatters has put together a list of the top 20 punk protest songs for the 4th of July.
It's a very nice collection with just enough background info on the bands and their songs to make it informative without being boring. And every single video that has been linked is of such horrible quality that it is almost like being there.
