Mubarak verdict: justice or politics?

Realtiy Check: Mubarak trial, hunger conference, Syria-EU, Syria-US, 100% renewable energy in the future

Egypt's 31 year long state of emergency has expired, and a verdict is expected tomorrow in the trial of Hosni Mubarak.

Mubarak is the first Arab leader to be taken to court by his people, but while there was great celebration around the beginning of the trial process, many people are now sceptical that justice will be done. They say the verdict and sentence will be politically motivated and little to do with the alleged offences.

If found guilty, Mubarak could face the death penalty - but guilty or not, the verdict is likely to further divide Egyptian society. Karim El Gawhary reports from Cairo.

Caritas conference "Zukunft ohne Hunger"

A 2 day conference on hunger is being hosted by Caritas in Vienna today, featuring experts from 19 countries who will present their ideas on how to tackle world hunger, particularly in crisis areas such as Sahel. Delegate Jane Magigita talks to Joanna Bostock.

100% renewable energy in 20 years

The world could soon be powered 100% by renewable energy, according to the chairman of Solar Century, Jeremy Leggett.

He says the shift to renewable energy in inevitable, and it will not be as costly or difficult as many people imagine. He met Chris Cummins at the "Peak Oil" and told him about his vision for a fossil-fuel-free world.
