The Dutch Prime Minister has tendered the resignation of his government to Queen Beatrix after Geert Wilders far right Freedom Party withdrew its support for the government over austerity measures.

Wilders says the government's efforts to follow the EU austerity rules in every detail amount to a programme for economic failure for the country.
