Today's Webtip: Beatrice the Biologist

bringing science to the masses with wit and charm.

Science must be scary to some people. I don't know why, but it's the only reason I can imagine so many people want to take it out of schools in the U.S.

Well, ok, I have a whole bunch of ideas about what's really behind that, but since a lot of the people who are actively against it will probably never see a large check from a major corporation, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

That said, finding a way to discuss certain things (on and offline) can be difficult. I'm sure a few of you can recognize this situation:

I have seen (and been part of) arguments like that in so many sites about so many subjects that I would have had to buy the entire frozen yoghurt industry by now.

Unfortunately, frozen treats aren't enough to bridge the divide in most situations, and I don't really have any idea what could. But there is a part of me that still hopes that patine and polite education might help.

Making it funny probably wouldn't hurt. And that is just what Beatrice the Biologist does. Her blog is full of funny, interesting and enlightening articles, comments (and even a video) about science stuff.

It's really quite charming.
