Bosnia & Landmines

Two men are killed in Bosnia-Herzegovina by a landmine whilst gathering wood in a forest outside the city of Lukavac. The war ended 17 years ago, but landmines are still killing people. Chris Cummins talks to Loren Persi is from the International Campaign to Ban Landmines:

Weapons Report

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has published a new report on international arms trade. The data show an increase in the volume of worldwide arms transfers, who’s sell and who’s buying. John Cummins gets more details from SIPRI senior researcher, Pieter Wezeman:

The Economy & the Environment

Countries struggling to deal with public debt and high unemployment shouldn’t overlook the importance of the environment, according to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. In its “Environmental Outlook” the OECD warns that if action isn’t take now, there will be irreversible damage to the environment. Chris Cummins found out more from Simon Upton, the OECD’s environment chief and author of the report.
