With a little over a month to go to the French presidential election, things seem to be going from bad to worse for Nicholas Sarkozy. According to some sections of the French media, he is now facing scandals and accusations on all fronts, including allegations that his previous election campaign was funded by Colonel Gaddafi. But how much is really sticking, and what is just normal pre-election muck slinging? Hugh Schofield reports from Paris.

Tunisia's conservative Islamists

Since the ousting of President Ben Ali, Tunisia has become divided between the secularists and the Islamists, and the Islamists, especially the extreme "Salafis", are demanding that secular bans on Islamic dress, such as the veil, or Niqab, be lifted. Monica Marks, an expert in Middle East Studies at Oxford University, tells Gennie Johnson about the new political and social divides, as well as the remarkable progress post-Arab Spring Tunisia is making.

Human rights and anti-terror legislation

What happens when the human rights of the individual come into conflict with protecting the wider population? At the moment, the European Court of Human Rights can tell EU countries when they have to release terrorism suspects, and how they should be treated, as illustrated in the recent controversy over Abu Qadata in Britain. However, faced with a huge backlog of cases, the ECHR is considering giving more decision making power to national justice systems. Roisin Pillay, a Senior Legal Advisor at the Court tells Chris Cummins why this would not be a good move.

"Shangrila of my heart"

Sabine Januschke had a successful career in PR and journalism and was on her honeymoon when she decided her life was headed in the wrong direction. She wanted more spirituality.

She got a divorce and then devoted herself to Buddhism to such an extent that she has become the first female Buddhist priest in Austria. She is now called Gelongma Lama Palmo and has written a book about her experiences called "Shangrila of my Heart".
