Today's Webtip: Chef Secrets
Have you ever heard anyone say someone else was a musicians's musician?
Well I think I have just found a chefs chef. Someone whose website includes comments from other professional food makers, journalists, and authors as well as the very serious home cook. It's an example of the bets of the web. Not that it's one of the best sites, but the quality of the content is matched by the quality of the comments.
About cooking.
Yes, the site if filled with ads for Mr. Ruhlman's books, but this is one author who isn't afraid of sharing information, and his posts might refer back to recipes listed in the books, but he provides more than enough on the page to keep you cooking til the cows come home. He also provides lots of info on things like technique and strategy, and is kind enough to list all of his recipes in metric as well as imperial units.
I think my favorite post so far has been about staples. Standard meals that people tend to fall back on because they are easy and convenient. A little bit of inspiration for people who are getting tired of cooking the same darned thing...
