Libya: a decade away from stability?
Subscribe to the Reality Check podcast and get the whole programme after the show.
The United Nations is expressing concern that the militias in Libya are getting of control. Amnesty International says many people are being tortured in illegal detention centres, and Medcins sans Frontieres has suspended its work in Misrata after treating 115 people with torture related injuries.
Our security expert, Paul Rogers, says that the perception that Libya was well along the road to stability was over-optimitistc and it could take up to 10 years for proper state institutions to be established to ensure security. He also says that the level of support for the Gaddafi regime was seriously underestimated. On today's Reality Check, he discusses the increasingly precarious situation with Gennie Johnson.
