Today's Webtip. Travel Cheap

A cute comic and other resources on low cost travel tips

Yes, I've been bitten by the travel bug. I really want to get back out on the road, but it looks like I will have to wait another 8 years or sor. In the mean time, I plan to plan.

And I have to admit that the internet kicks all sorts of ass when it comes to finding ways to be a vagabond. Of course, I am still trying to remember how I actually managed to even make basic plans back before the internet and mobile phones. The only thing I can really remember is that my plastic zip bag containing my address book and cards was probably the most valuable thing I owned.

Well, I guess I do still have a few of those living in Europe on $10 a day books, or "Europe through the Backdoor", but they were all pretty much out of date before I even opened the covers.

Anyway...

Ryan Estrada

Spurred ony by a G+ posting by Ryan Estrada called "How to Travel Anywhere on $20 a Day" I decided to see what else was out there.

Most articles rehash the same old information, so the only reason to actually read them is for the resources they list. The number of sites dedicated to making it easier for people to move around for less cash is pretty massive, and it probably pays to have some resources beyond www.couchsurfing.org

WIRED has a how to wiki page up on the subject that seems to at least be mildly up to date, but I think the real gem has to be a blog by someone who is o the road, all the time.

www.theprofessionalhobo.com is pretty amazing. It's not just full of interesting stories form exotic places from someone who has made the leap, it's also full of useful articles on how to actually make it work, along with a very useful collection of online. resources.
