One of the people who had a major impact on my understanding of the world was Richard Feynman. He was a bongo playing, lock picking, physicist who helped develop the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima.

He was one of those people with a true lust for life, an infectious curiosity, and a natural talent for story telling. Qualities that made him a popular teacher. One whose lectures were frequently visited by his peers.
The physicists version of Carl Sagan with a New York accident and without the TV show.
Not that he hasn't been on television. There was a rather interesting documentary produced featuring Mr. Feynman sitting in a chair telling stories. The transcript of that interview session was turned into a book, and now the AUdio has been used to create another work of video
