Today's Webtip: Patrick Stewart

Picard interviewed for a podcast? The Nerdist made it so.

One of the biggest problems with mass media are formats. To be more specific, the problem is the particular formats that have become the norm.

30 second sound bites, short mostly promo interviews that only deal with the current product being pushed, mini reports that never actually get down to the nitty gritty.

That's what makes podcasts so cool. The internet is a perfect place for all of those excellent questions you had to cut out of your piece due to time constraints. You can include all of the questions and answers that might not appeal to a mass audience, but are gifts to fans or followers.

One guy who really doesn't have many of those problems, but still puts out longwinded interviews with people who are really nifty is Chris Hardwick. He is a comedian, journalist, and professional nerd who has a website called the Nerdist. That site includes a podcast, and one of his more recemt issues features a long and lovely interview with Captain Picard. Over sixty minutes of insight into Patrick Stewart, including some really funny comments from his son.
