Today's Webtip: Straight to Hell
Tarantino wasn't the first guy to put übercool dudes in black suits in the desert. He might have done it more succesfully, but Alex Cox did it earlier, more strangely, and with a much larger cast of cool.
Straight to Hell was a 1987 release featuring some major names in late 80's political entertainers. Joe Strummer, Dennis Hopper, Jim Jarmusch, the Pogues, Elvis Costello, Grace Jones and many more names than I care to list were put together to tell the tale of some bungling gangsters, coffee sipping cowboys, and lots of violence.
It's a film you have probably never been able to see, has since been digitally remastered and rereleased on DVD, and is now avaialable online thanks to the Bristish Film Institute.

This is one of those films with a background that might be as interesting as the final product. You can read about that story here.
