Today's Webtip: Google Takeout

the Data Liberation Front wants to help you free your data.

Just as Google is ramping up for a major move on the social networking front, a small group of guerilla engineers inside the ranks have announced a plan to help you free your stuff from the grips of Google. Sort of.

Google Takeout is a new service that is meant to help you get your info out of a handful of Google services. Lack of data portability has been a major problem with social networking sites so far, and it looks like the big G wants to soothe those fears of lock-in before they roll out the invites for their social networking service Google+.

Personally, I'm just sucker for geeky videos.

There is more info on their blog, you can get straight to the service here, and for those of you who want more info on Google+, I found a massive rundown of the major reviews and commentary.
