On June 25th, 2006, the 19 year old Israeli soldier Gilah Shalit was kidnapped near the border with the Gaza Strip.

Now held hostage by Hamas, he has become a symbol on many levels for Israelis, representing both personal and political concerns.

Analyst Matt Rees explains how this incidident resonated with almost everyone in the country, and how it reflects the state of the Middle East peace process.
