Today's Webtip: Hackermovies

movies made by hackers? It depends on how you define the word hacker.

Technology rocks. It's so much easier to do so many cool things these days. From production to distribution, almost every form of media creativity has become a realistic hobby for anyone willing to invest the time to learn how to do it.

Looking back at my early years with fanzines and sad attempts at no budget movies or late eighties video and interactive art, I'm still amazed at how far things have come. the hoops that I once had to jump through just to get access to the tech have disappeared, finding potential collaborators is no longer limited by the luck of geography, and getting your work out to an audience is just a matter of point and click.

It's so cool.

There are several sites out there for those of you who might be interested in exploring the current state of low-budget movie making. film.at was a webtip quite some time ago, and now I have run across another site that does the same sort of thing.

www.hackermovies.com is a community, resource, and place to see the movies people have made. There is some excellent stuff on the site, and it's well worth the time of anyone who wants to jump into the world of film.
