some people take the term "critic" way too seriously

I was having a discussion the other day with a friend about the nature of negative reviews. I rarely let a negative review keep me from seeing or hearing something I might be interested in, and tend to find a panning review a cheap way out. Sometimes it's just easier to be nasty than to write an entertaining positive review.

But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good thrashing as a form of entertainment in and of itself.

Inspired by a maggot filled rant against the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" release, I decided to hunt down some more anti-film fun.

As someone who has panned a few things I later learned to love, I can only wonder what it must feel like to have trashed a film like "Psycho" or "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest". It's something I will never get an answer to, but at least we can read some outtakes of thorough trashings of some cinematic master pieces.
