In 2004 the Pixies got back together for a bit of a show. The tour was called Pixies Sell Out, a rather witty play on words and reference to the fact that they could sell out shows and probably needed some cash.
That didn't deter loads of fans from paying for a chance to see a band that many had only ever heard on plastic. As someone who has had the luck (good or bad, sometimes both) to see many bands that had reached their sell by date, I was afraid to expect anything at all from the show. And since I had never seen them live before, I didn't have much to compare it to.
That was probably a Very Good Thing. I enjoyed myself (while working) and it was nowhere near as disappointing as some of the come back shows I have witnessed. At least none of the band members needed to be carried off stage by roadies...
And now, you can catch a documentary about the tour. Online. The whole thing. It would have been nice to get something like this from back in the day, but it will do.
