Today's Webtip: Skateistan
Despite the tendency of politicians and other adults to view killing people as a mean of affecting change, there are still some folk out there who believe they can make the world a better place without killing anyone.
One interesting project is called Skateistan. A group of pro skaters and people with a vision went to Kabul, Afghanistan to teach the kids how to skate. What started out with two Australians and three skateboards has turned into a full blown youth center with a skatepark, climbing wall, and classes ranging from skate boarding to journalism and art classes.
A documentary about the project was recently screened at the Sundance film festival. I have only found a trailer of the film online, but there is a short documentary about the documentary that was made and can be seen here:

The site includes information about the project, galleries and student blogs written by kids from Skateistan and other projects that are cooperating with them.
