Today's Webtip: Nostalgia
Living in a WG full of music freaks in the early nineties was fun. 2 rooms, 5 people, 1 turntable and lot's and lot's of records.

Melody Maker
And piles of music magazines. Most of them were long dead fanzines and NME and Melody Maker. Everything you needed to discover new music. Those were the days when that meant dealing with your ADD addled DJ friend who could never let a song play through, jumping up every couple of seconds to play the other great new track he was suddenly reminded of. Imagine the classic TV zapper, the one who only stays on a station long enough for you to get into the story before zapping off to the next channel. Except with vinyl.
Living with a Rave-Up clerk meant a direct connection to music nirvana. It also meant that it was next to impossible to listen to a complete album, and that your living space was two steps away from being a fire-hazard.
Those of you who were there, but didn't or couldn't keep dragging their collection of music rags around might appreciate archivedmusicpress.wordpress.com it's a blog based on scans of NMW and MM from between 1987-97 featuring lots of articles on bands before and after they broke, ads, and enough nostalgia to fuel a midlife crisis.
It might even be an interesting resource for those of you who came a little late to the party.
