Today's Webtip: Holiday Tech Troubleshooting

finally, help for those kids who want to teach their parents well.

Tis the season to teach tech. Holiday's mean family get togethers, and family get togethers frequently mean tech troubleshooting for friends and family.

If you are the family goto gal/guy for troubleshooting, and you're tired of asking the standard questions (you would be surprised how often it wasn't plugged in or turned on) then you might be able to enjoy www.teachparentstech.org

It's a service provided by some of the Google crew that features an easy to fill out form with videos that cover many of the standard tech problems/learning situations. Have you been thinking about getting your clan on video chat? There is a video for it. Resizing pictures? Same. Telling if an email is real? Yep. Explaining why chainmails, online petitions, and CC'ed mailing lists are evil? Well, not, not yet.

It won't cover all of your problems, can't insert cables, and wont be of much use if you end up needing to wipe and reinstall, but it still might help you get a bit more of the fun part of the Holiday season. Unless you're one of those who finds defraggin Grandpas HD better than listening to uncle Bob talk about politics.
