Today's Webtip: More Wikileaks

the times they certainly are interesting.

The fallout from the most recent Wikileaks dump has been rather interesting. Aside from the hysterical rehetoric of various U.S. interests, we have won some insght into the context of recent political developments.

Copyright activists who have suspected that the U.S. is playing a major role in the development of interntaional copyright legislation have had some of their more extreme suspicions verified. It turns out that the U.S. almost literally wrote new laws that are about to be voted on in Spain. After the rapid spread of laws similar to the Amrican DMCA, it's not too surprising, but it IS rather interesting to have some of the more extreme accusations of U.S. medling exposed. I wonder what a similar dump from a few years ago might have looked like.

More context has also been provided for the U.S. push toward war with Iran. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact this has on the recent drums of war.

For those of you less interested in the cables themselves and more curious about what this all might mean for the near future, Jeff Jarvis has written a rather interesting editorial for the Welt am Sonntag. It's available in English and German, and is probably worth a few minutes of your time.
