Today's Webtip: Hit The Road Jack

Sean Bonner documents his new nomadism for BoingBoing.

I'm sure many of you have spent some time living out of a backpack. I'm just as sure that even more have at least considered it.

I spent a good portion of my late teens and early twenties between abodes. I wasn't exactly homeless, but I learned to value a place I could take my boots off.

Looking back now, I find it hard to remember how I stayed in touch and coordinated my movements. I do, however, remember having a very important plastic bag with my collection of phone numbers, business cards and important pieces of paper. I also remember the trauma I experienced after successfully transferring everything to a shiny new notebook, only to lose the bag AND the book somewhere between Minneapolis and Austin.

It was the first in a long line of failed backups.

Anyway, the times have certainly changed, and living the nomadic life has become a reality for many more people.

Sean Bonner of Metblogs fame is one of them. He and his family have hit the road, and will be documenting it for BoingBoing. Sean is a talented writer and interesting guy, and I hope this is going to be a regular feature. The current article and the discussion in the comments is certainly worth a read.
