Today's Webtip: Mimu Merz
My summer highlight has to have been the Parque del Sol at LAMES. Sun, and weather, and workshops, and music, and lectures...
And I got to meet lots of interesting people too.
But the highlight of the highlight came on the very last day. Like the Spanish Inquisition, I wasn't expecting it. Everyone who was still around had collected in the front courtyard, and I was sitting with my daughter and some friends trying to get myself to head home.
And then a woman walked into the courtyard and started playing.
And singing.
Everyone slowly stopped whatever it was they had been doing and just listened. I think it was the first time I have ever seen a group of people who were literally transfixed. The woman was Mimu Merz, and when she finished her song and asked us to follow her for more, I felt like one of the children of Hamelin. It would have been impossible not to follow her.

I can only hope the rest of the performance goes online as well.
And I just got some more info.
You can find out more about Mimu on her labels site.
And you can here some more of her work on soundcloud
