Today's Webtip: Graceland
I can still remember the week Elvis Presley died. It's now just a foggy collection of images, but it's there in the back of my head. I can remember my aunts and mother crying, and watching the white Hearse on a television in the corner of the room.
I can't remember why the extended family was together on that day, but we were. I can still see the folding card-tables in my uncles TV room, and I'm pretty certain there were ham sandwiches and potato salad involved.
It had been the summer of Star Wars for me, and I bet I had a few action figures in my pocket to keep me entertained while the adults did whatever it was they were doing.
If there was anyone in the family who wasn't an Elvis fan, I certainly didn't know it.

Chris Glass
I've always meant to make the trip to Graceland. I used to dream of renting a pink cadillac convertible and driving straight through from Minneapolis to Memphis.
I don't think it's ever going to happen.
Chris Glass made the trip though. He also took pictures. Pictures that brought some of my memories of the summer of 77 floating back to the surface.
The photos are like a little bit of seventies in a bottle.
