Today's Webtip: Open App Market

An open app store for iPhone web apps.

When apple released the first iPhone, web apps were the way. The only way, and people were pissed.

Enter the App Store, iPhone native applications, and a whole lot of happy developers. As time went on, people began to get a bit upset about Apples controlling nature and restrictive requirements, which led to more and more people hoping for an open app store.

In the meantime, web apps were still around. They were just sort of lost in the media wave surrouding native apps, and left to linger on a less than search friendly site on Apples website.

People accustomed to the (relative) ease of the appstore would need something better than a simple list of web apps.

So now we have openappmkt.com. It behaves about like most people have come to expect an app store to behave, and even offers a way for developers to sell their web apps to the public.

Now maybe someone will try to make an app store that is actually user AND app friendly, easy to navigate, and that doesn't let potentially useful apps get swamped in a sea of mediocrity...
