Funny how the world works. After repairing an ancient bike dynamo, I started thinking how cool it would be to use one to charge my gear.

I assumed someone had already thought about that too, so I searched for some products that solve that problem. They do indeed exist.

I also ran across some old project descriptions on how to put together a homegrown version. But they still weren't quite what I was looking for.

And then...

This morning I opened up my news reader to have the perfect project staring back at me.

You probably don't want to try that at home, but you might want to use it as a starting point for some interesting bike hack projects.

Then again, any kind of project dealing with unskilled professionals and electrical and/or mechanical energy could be dangerous. And I wouldn't want you to do anything dangerous...
