Today's webtip: Calvin minus Hobbes

it's funny in a disturbing kind of way.

Everyone knows Calvin and Hobbes right?

Good. Because I don't really want to have to explain the whole idea behind the strip. Let's just say I love C&H almost as much as I dislike Garfield. As a matter of fact, I don't know if it's possible for the same person to like both.

I don't mind Garfield minus Garfield though. It actually makes the whole thing a little more palatable. So I was a little suspicious of a similar project aimed at Calvin and Hobbes.

Unnecessarily so.

Calvin minus Hobbes, takes one great thing and manages to keep it good, just in a different way. It manages to make a fairly raucous strip a little more poignant. Maybe even bittersweet. But it does it while exposing an issue that was always just below the surface anyway.

Bill Watterson (and someone else?)

Calvin might have just been nuts.

Some hardcore C&H fans have found the whole thing a bit too much, but I enjoy it. Maybe you will too...
