Today's Webtip: Mediapunk.net
Mediapunk is one of those bloggers who does things like write about blogging. And the internet. And the Media. And the way those things all sort of come together. Or not.
www.mediapunk.net is his blog.
He writes for a couple of other online type things but Technoccult is the one I have in my newsreader. Mediapunk doesn't seem to have a high posting frequency, but the posts he does get around too have a pretty high aha rate. Shining little nuggets of information are just waiting to enrich your info stash.
Even if it's info you already knew.
Take his posting on iPad publishing. Anyone who has had anything to do with the print insdustry has known for ages that most publications make mopst of their money on advertising and not issue sales. But it's one of those well known facts that has been slowly slipping away as the content owners watch their print ad revenue dwindle.
mediapunk.net includes the money quote I have been waiting for:
"According to Mobile Entertainment, The Financial Times’ Stephen Pinches estimated that 2010 would be the first year the publication makes more from content than from advertising – a startling revelation in the publishing industry"
Anyway, he has a good eye, and might be an info source worth adding. And heck, if nothing else, Mediapunk is a nifty name...
