Today's Webtip: Make a Movie
Ah, the marvels of modern technology. When I look back to the late nineties and early DV madness, The hoops we had to jump through to get something to look "right" never fail to make me very, very tired.
Right now I can get the kind of footage I used to aspire to with a point and shoot camera and my laptop.
Of course, now that image quality and ease of editing has made it's way to the masses, their is more time left over to concentrate on other tweaks. Time I used to spend mucking about in After Effects to take the digital edge off, can now be used to make inexpensive steadicams, fancy dolly rigs, or low cost lighting solutions.
Just the type of thing Make Magazine can cover so well. And now, they are even taking it all a step further, by declaring March DIY Movie Making Month. They have a few posts up already, and I am anxiously awaiting the rest of their posts.
So if you feel the need to capture a little motion, head on over to Make. You might learn something.
