It looks like the whole Free As In Beer thing has finally made it's way to the art-world. For people who have artists for friends that not might be anything new, but for those less privileged it is a pretty nifty thing.
Fine Arts Adoption Network
The Fine Art Adoption Network is a resource for artists who want to share and the collectors who want to be shared with. Although the artworks themselves don't cost anything, the artist decides who is allowed to actually adopt their work, and the collector pays the cost of transportation.
It's a pretty nifty idea, and their are some nice works available for adoption. While anyone can sign up as a collector, Artists are by invitation only, something that I'm not too keen on, but I assume it is a cost cutting measure that might change in the future.
Well, I assume anyone can sign up. It seems as though my application has gone through yet.
