Today's Webtip: Apocalypse Pooh
Although Mashups might seem like an inherently digital art form, they have actually been with us for quite some time. In my role as today's Captain Obvious I would like to share one of the older mashup movies.
It's called Apocalypse Pooh, and I'm sure you can guess what it's made of.
It was made and released back in the days when you actually had to know someone who had a copy they could play for you. People actually used to get together in the same place and watch these things. It was probably quite some fun.
Those of us who didn't have access to any editing equipment would do something similar by putting on records and turning down the volume on videos. Under the right circumstances the results could be quite entertaining. Some people even managed to find combinations that would work under ANY circumstances, like the now famous Dark Side of Oz.
I only wish I could have seen this in '87. But I missed out, and have to make up for it after the fact with YouTube and an interview with Todd Graham on Movie City News.
Oh well.
