Soundwalk is one of those rare examples of the intersection of art and commerce that actually works. Founded in 1998 by the artist Stephan Crasneanscki and Alex kummerman, they have produced over 40 walking tours.
But these tours are different.Jazzy Jay and Afrikaa Baambaata will guide you through the birth of HipHop in the Bronx, Louis Vuiton through China, and Paul Auster presents a memorial guide to Ground Zero. The company has released several of these walks as gps guided iPhone apps, and they have a blog that features some incredible ambient soundscapes under the title Soundwalk Editions.
