Today's Webtip: Crash
Well, after oodles of bad luck (including my favorite bird and baguette episode) the LHC is up and doing what it's meant to do. Smash tiny bits of matter into other tiny bits of matter so scientists can stand around and say "ooooooh".

CERN
Last Friday they managed to get the first particle beam to run round the ring, and yesterday evening they pulled off their first particle collision. Pictures of happy scientists and massive bits of machinery have been circling the globe, and I feel compelled to celebrate with them.
So.
Here are some links to fun things around CERN and the LHC.
If you have already read the BBC article linked above, you can check out the coverage on Gizmodo. It's a bit more tongue in cheek, but it has some really awesome images
If you really want to be on top of the game, then you should follow the CERN account on Twitter.
For more in-depth info of the moving image variety, you could visit them on YouTube. It's worth it just to check out the title sequence they have designed.
There are currently 4,943 pictures tagged with LHC on flickr. That's a lot to look at.
And finally, you can check out the homepage of the actual experiment atlas.ch
