Today's Webtip: CraftFail

the downside of D.I.Y.

I love D.I.Y. Whether making your own music, hacking your friends computer, or baking a killer cake, it's all good to me.

Even when it goes wrong.

unknown

Because it WILL go wrong.

Learning is like that. It takes time do develop the skills and experience required to pull off a good project. But that doesn't mean you can't celebrate the failures.

There are a lot of sites out there dedicated to ridiculing craft projects that never should have seen the img tag in a website. Most of them try to choose completely over-the-top examples of things that just shouldn't have been made, but they still come across as being a bit mean-spirited.

CraftFail isn't like that. The site hosts stories about projects gone wrong that are submitted by the people who made the mistakes. It's a nice little view into the learning process, and can actually be a rather encouraging alternative to the heavy expectations the Martha Stewarts of the world can create.

So if you have ever decided to finally sit down and Just Do It, only to have it scare the pants off of you and your loved ones, take hear and know that you aren't alone.

Everyone makes mistakes.
